Engine 181 Runs First Due Fire in Lanham
On March 22, 2025 just before 8:00, Box 18-04 was sounded for a building in the area of Forbes Blvd / Philadelphia Way, bringing the Engine 181 as the first due engine. A column of smoke was visible as the wagon responded down Annapolis Road passing Glenn Dale Road. Safety Officer 800, coming from the immediate area, arrived first to report smoke showing from the roof of the American Linen Supply Co. building at 4900 Philadelphia Way. Engine 181 laid out from the A/B corner of the building and found fire showing from the loading dock. The crew advanced the 250’ 2” handline to extinguish 2 trailers on fire with extension inside and up to the roofline. Engine 181 worked with West Lanham Engine Co. 48 and Berwyn Heights Truck Co. 14 to knock all visible fire and check for extension. All searches of the structure were negative. Units remained on scene for several hours completing overhaul and picking up before returning to Glenn Dale Blvd.
