Rescue Squad 18 Runs House Fire in Glenarden
On September 28, 2026, just prior to 15:00 hours, Public Safety Communications sounded box alarm 06-05 for multiple callers reporting a house on fire in the 2600 Block of Swann Wing Court. Rescue Squad 18 was due on the box as the search company, turning out immediately with 6 men. Due to PSC receiving 4 calls, the Working Fire Dispatch was started prior to arrival. Engine Co. 6 arrived to find a 2 story, lightweight, single-family dwelling with fire showing from the second floor and throughout the attic. Squad 18 arrived shortly after, positioned out of the way a block over from the scene and reported to the second floor, where primary searches were performed. As searches and extinguishment efforts were ongoing, deteriorating conditions and concerns of structural integrity forced crews to evacuate and switch to defensive operations. Once conditions improved, crews were sent back in for mop up, overhaul and secondary searches. The Squad was deployed a short time later to the second floor to assist with such. The crew remained on scene for approx. 2-1/2 hours before returning to Glenn Dale.
