Engine 181 and Truck 18 Run Barricade/House Fire in Lanham
In the early evening hours of Saturday August 18th, 2024, Truck 18 was alerted for a shooting in the 9800 Block of Woodland Ave in Co. 48’s area. While staging for police to secure the scene, officers on scene reported a barricaded subject who was setting things on fire in the home. Due to the updated information, Engine Companies 48 and 18 were alerted. Units initially staged at Seabrook Elementary School until a plan was put in place. The house began catching fire so Engine 48 was ordered by the Duty Chief to lay a supply line and Engine 181 picked it up. An extra 2 & 1 were also alerted at that time. The supply line was used to supply the PGPD fire cat vehicle. The subject was eventually apprehended and crews began defensive fire operations. The fire was eventually knocked with the use of a wagon pipe and blitz fire devices. Crews were sent inside to mop up any remaining fire. Engine 181 and Truck 18 remained on scene for over 4 hours before returning to service. Prince George’s County fosters a productive fire-police relationship and this incident was a perfect demonstration of such.
