Glenn Dale Runs Back to Back Fires
On June 11th, 2026, just after 12:30pm, units from Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties were alerted for box alarm 49-14 for an apartment fire in the 11700 Block of S. Laurel Dr. Tower 18 responded as the first due truck with 6 men. Engine Co. 49 arrived to a 3-story multiple family dwelling and reported a working fire in the terrace level. Tower 18 arrived shortly after and the inside team was assigned to the terrace level, where the crew completed primary searches and checked for fire extension. The outside team laddered the exterior of the structure to ensure adequate egress was available. The fire was held to the apartment of origin. After confirming there was no extension, the assignment was scaled back to 2&2 for overhaul and mop up.
Two hours later, Public Safety Communications dispatched a box alarm in the Carleton East Apartments in the 9700 Block of Good Luck Rd in Co. 48’s area for a reported terrace level unit on fire. Rescue Engine 18, with 6 men, was due as the first due engine. Rescue Engine 18 arrived to a 3-story garden apartment with fire showing from Side Charlie. The crew deployed the 400’ 1-1/2” handline through side alpha to extinguish the fire. Minor extension was discovered in the unit above and was extinguished. Primary searches of the entire building were negative. Crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours before returning to Glenn Dale Blvd.
