Rescue Engine 18, Chief 18 and Chief 18A Run Apartment Fire in Lanham
Just before 2:00 pm on April 27, 2025, communications dispatched box 48-09 for the apartment fire in the 9900 BLK Greenbelt Rd, bringing Rescue Engine 18 as the second due engine. En route, communications were advised they were taking multiple calls all reporting the same. The company arrived simultaneously with Engine 48, as Chief 18 (Postell) reported a 3 in the front, 4 in the rear garden style apartment with smoke showing and established the Lanham command. The Rescue Engine took their assigned position as the second due and stretched a backup line to the terrace level where crews had a bedroom on fire with extension to the kitchen area. Primary searches were negative. Chief 18A (Wood) was assigned an interior supervisory position. The Rescue Engine remained on scene for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.
