On Thursday September 1st, 2022 at approximately 6:00pm, Tower 18 was alerted as the 3rd due truck to the 5400 block of 85th Avenue in New Carrollton for an apartment fire. While responding to the call, Public Safety Communications advised that they were receiving multiple calls and the report of people trapped and jumping from the balcony. First arriving units arrived to find fire showing from side Charlie with extension to the roof and immediately requested a 2nd Alarm. Tower 18 arrived on scene moments later and proceeded to go to work. The inside team opened up while the outside team threw multiple ground ladders and gave a roof report. Tower 18 remained on scene for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.
