On December 7th, 2023 at exactly 17:00 hours, Public Safety Communications dispatched a box alarm in the 6500 BLK of Homestake Dr S in the first due for a reported fire in the house, bringing Rescue Squad 18 as the search company. With the Squad coming from across the first due, Paramedic Ambulance 18 was first arriving to a 2 story single family with fire showing. The PA crew removed 3 dogs and 1 occupant from the basement of the home after completing the 360. The Squad arrived shortly after and completed searches of the structure, which were negative. After operating for a few minutes, fire was discovered to have extended up the back of the house and into the second floor and attic of the home. While completing searches on the first and second floors, the Squad crew assisted in fire suppression with an unused handline. Crews remained on scene for upwards of 3 hours to conduct extensive overhaul of the house.
